Economic analysis of power grids has gained more importance due to increase in ideology among people and government to use the available power efficiently at lower costs. Requirement of meeting the energy demand using conventional energy sources (CES) in the most economic way is accomplished using conventional economic load dispatch (CELD) problem. CELD problem is one of the most basic and important constrained optimization problem in power system operation and control. The main objective of CELD problem is to minimum fuel cost in generating sufficient power to satisfy the total demand of the system. Generally, the objective of CELD problem is met using the fossil-fuelled based generating station. Due to this, sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide gets emitted into an atmosphere to create global warming. There exist different ways like using alternative CES with low emission potential, changing the strategies in dispatching power and replacing existing technologies with an efficient one to reduce the global warming. Another approach is the usage of renewable energy sources (RES) in addition to the CES. Limited reserves or depletion of fossil fuels, increase in global temperature, higher excavation cost, environmental pollution, growing energy consumption and safety problems have forced the government to promote research in developing renewable energy technology in power grids. Among the available RES, the average growth per year in wind and solar energy generation has increased subsequently for the past ten years. Due to abundant resources around the world and due to its own advantages, wind energy and solar energy has been used extensively. This research work incorporates wind power (WP) and solar power (SP) into the CELD problem thereby converting it into CELD WP and CELD SP problems. newline
