Abstract

The next generation wireless networks known as the fourth newlinegeneration 4G systems are targeted to support various applications such as newlinevoice data and multimedia over packetswitched networks Future newlineapplications will be more demanding and may include High Definition newlineTeleVision HDTV and audiovisual support With the high demands and newlinevarying requirements of these applications there is a need to support QoS in newlinewireless local area network The notion of Quality of Service QoS has newlineevolved rapidly over the past few years Until recently the term QoS was newlinereferred only to certain characteristics of network performance outside the newlinecontrol or influence of the end user Recent years have seen great advances in newlinethe field of QoS research mainly due to the emergence of multimedia newlinenetworking and computing New user perspectives and the emergence of QoS newlinedemanding multimedia applications complement these technological newlinedevelopments newline newline
