Abstract

The present study is undertaken in an attempt to localize histochemically some organic and inorganic constituents besides enzymes in the digestive system of the newlineindigenous fish Schizothorax esocinus Heckel In addition the biochemical newlineprofile of digestive organs has been carried out in order to provide an insight in newlineunderstanding the energetical as well as the nutritional requirements of the fish newlineMoreover the SEM study elucidates the modifications of the mucosa of the newlineentire digestive tract of the fish Schizothorax esocinus under different newlinemagnifications These observations would not only complement the newlinehistological findings but are useful in correlating the morphological features newlinewith function Schizothorax esocinus Heckel the cyprinid fish locally known newlineas Chhurru is herbi omnivorous in habit thriving in almost all the laustrine newlineand riverine habitats of the valley newline newline
