Abstract
newline Without food, humanity would have never existed. Our ancestors were quick enough to
newlineidentify the need for cultivation to cater to the rising need for food consumption over 20
newlinelong centuries and more. The development of the economy of the country is dependent on
newlineits agriculture to a large extent, not only in terms of contributing to the GDP but also in
newlinefeeding to the billions of its native people.
newlineThe need for a better management of Agriculture in Odisha has been sensed many
newlinedecades earlier. Questions like what needs to be done to help Agriculture in Odisha
newlineimprove in aspects like generation of more income for the farmers, better productivity,
newlinestability and equity in product prices, employment generation in the agricultural sector,
newlineetc., were among the reasons that motivated me to carry out the study. As a student of
newlinemanagement studies, I became curious to study these aspects and to find out how the
newlinesituation can be improved. For finding solutions to such questions in mind, this research
newlinewas conducted.
newlineFor the improvement of the production, distribution, generating employment and income
newlinefor the farmers of Odisha, the study was done which was based on secondary data
newlineanalysis from various statistical organizations around the world, books, publications,
newlinearticles and outcomes of various seminars and conferences was done. Some of the works
newlineof literature that I came across were very informative and did help to a large extent in
newlinefarming my ideas and putting down the same in the form of this thesis. Some of such
newlineimportant findings from the literature reviews done in this research are put down in the
