High performance concrete HPC is a new type that offers high newlinecompressive strength Though it has been primarily used in high strength newlineapplications in the very near future it will be mostly specified and used for its newlinehigh durability The American Concrete Institute ACI defines HPC as a newlineconcrete having special combination of performance and uniformity newlinerequirements that cannot be attained by conventional methods like normal newlinemixing placing and curing practices The name HPC represents mixtures that newlinepossess the following three properties high workability high strength and newlinehigh durability Mehta Aitcin 1990 According to ACI the durability under newlinesevere environmental condition is an optional requirement and not a newlinemandatory one newline newline
