Abstract
The onset of the quotnew normalquot brought about by global disruptions like the COVID-
newline19 pandemic has redefined traditional workplace dynamics, compelling
newlineorganizations to adapt their human resource (HR) practices. This thesis, titled and#8213;An
newlineAssessment of Emerging HR Practices in New Normal Conditions with Special
newlineReference to Selected Banks,and#8214; investigates how banks have navigated these
newlinechallenges, focusing on the strategies employed to ensure workforce efficiency,
newlinewell-being, and adaptability.
newlineThe research aims to assess the evolving landscape of HR practices in the banking
newlinesector under the new normal. It identifies emerging trends such as remote work,
newlinedigital transformation, employee mental health initiatives, and workforce re-skilling.
newlineBy analyzing the impact of these practices, the study highlights their effectiveness in
newlineaddressing the challenges posed by the new normal, including disruptions to
newlinetraditional work models, employee disengagement, and technological inadequacies.
newlineA mixed-methods approach was adopted to achieve these objectives. Quantitative
newlinedata was collected through structured surveys administered to employees and HR
newlineprofessionals from selected banks, capturing their perceptions of the implemented
newlineHR practices. This was complemented by qualitative data gathered through in-depth
newlineinterviews, which provided nuanced insights into organizational challenges and
newlineresponses. The selected banks were chosen based on their size, geographic presence,
newlineand digital maturity to ensure a representative sample.
newlineThe findings of the study reveal several key trends. Banks have increasingly
newlineembraced flexible work arrangements, including remote and hybrid models, to
newlinemaintain continuity during disruptions. Digital tools and platforms have become
newlinecentral to employee training, performance management, and communication,
newlineenabling a seamless transition to virtual operations.
