Abstract
The engineering thermoplastic polyoxymethylene POM is a
newlinepolymer of formaldehyde Even though it is believed to replace the usage of
newlinemetals it also degrades easily under many circumstances like heat acids
newlinealkalis oxygen abrasion enzymes radiations etc This work aims to study
newlinethe degradation of four group of samples A pure POM B POM
newlinenanocomposite with Copper oxide Nanoparticles CuO C POM
newlinenanocomposite with Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticle MSN and D POM
newlinenanocomposite with yttrium oxide nanoparticles Y2O3 at periodical
newlineintervals Nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized with Scanning
newlineElectron Microscopy SEM and X Ray Diffraction XRD for their size and
newlineShape These nanoparticles were mixed with pure POM pellets using spin
newlinescrew extruder The resultant product was POM nanocomposite These
newlinenanocomposites were characterized by SEM to find out nanoparticle spread in
newlinePOM material
