Abstract
AIM: To find out the effectiveness of Elastic Band exercises and conventional
newlineexercises for hip abductors and adductors for individuals with mechanical low back
newlinepain.
newlineOBJECTIVE: To evaluate low back pain by using NPRS in individuals with
newlinemechanical low back pain.
newlineTo evaluate the disability by using Modified Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Index
newlinein individuals with mechanical low back pain.
newlineTo evaluate the effect of hip abductors and adductors muscle strengthening using elastic
newlinebands in individuals with mechanical low back pain.
newlineTo evaluate the effect of conventional exercises individuals with mechanical low back
newlinepain.
newlineTo compare the effectiveness of Elastic Band exercises and conventional exercises for
newlinehip abductors and adductors for individuals with mechanical low back pain.
newlineMETHODS:
newlineIt was an Experimental Study, done in Saveetha Physiotherapy Outpatient, Saveetha
newlineMedical College and Hospital with sample size of 60 and sampling method as
newlineConvenient Sampling
newlinePROCEDURE:
newline Total of 60 subjects, both males and females with low back pain were screened by
newlinethe investigator and detailed description of the study was given to the subjects. Subjects
newlinewilling to participate and meeting the inclusion criteria were selected by convenient
newlinesampling method and written informed consent was obtained. Subjects selected were
newlinedivided into two groups, GROUP A and GROUP B
newlineStatistical analysis was done for all collected data using unpaired t-test. The test shows
newlinesignificant effect (plt0.0001) in reducing pain and disability in experimental group
newlinewhich underwent, Hip Abductors and Adductors strengthening exercises and
newlineconventional exercises compared to control group which underwent only conventional
newlineexercises.
newlineCONCLUSION:
newlineIt has been concluded that hip abductor and adductor strengthening along with
newlineconventional exercises (GROUP A) is more effective than only conventional exercises
newline(GROUP B) in reducing pain and disability in subjects with mechanical low back pain
