Expression of MicroRNA 21 and MicroRNA 375 in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Abstract

Oral cancer is the third most common cancer of the Indian subcontinent The survival rate of this cancer is in India is less than 30 percent Various factors like tobacco and pan chewing leads to the causation of oral cancer Early diagnostic marker for oral cancer is yet to be discovered MicroRNAs are Gene regulators that control various physiological and pathological pathways in humans The study aimed at analyzing the expression of microRNA 21 and 375 in oral cancer and also analyzed its association clinicopathological parameters of oral cancer patients 25 cases of oral cancer tissues were studied using qRTPCR The expression of microRNA 21 was significantly higher and microRNA 375 was significantly lower in oral cancer tissues compared to the controls There was significant association between smoking and microRNA 21 expression newline
