Abstract
The thesis work is an attempt to develop biocompatible formulations for the treatment of Tuberculosis (TB) and Acquired immuno deficiency syndrome (AIDS), the two biggest challenges to public health. At present the most tangible goal to assure a more compliant pharmacotherapy for these infections is to decrease the gap between state-of-the-art and ideal formulations since the perfect cure is still a long-term challenge. The study delineates the formulation of niosomes and mixed micelles that improve the therapeutic index of drugs by restricting their action to target cells. To conclude, research findings in this venture of development of more biocompatible and effective formulations of TB and AIDS could lead to a relevant enhancement of the previous art towards a more compliant TB and HIV pharmacotherapy. The results are expected to streamline the information on amphiphile chemistry in relation to their capability in stabilizing and solubilizing drugs of variable solubilties.
