Abstract
newline This thesis deals about the study of convective instability of a fluid-saturated porous layer heated from below under the influence of additional constraints like anisotropy porous layer, finite amplitude convection in a two component system with saturated porous layer, internal heat source, viscoelastic fluid in the presence of Soret effect and cross diffusion effects with and without rotations. Both linear and non-linear stability analysis are performed which are based on the normal mode technique and truncated Fourier series method respectively. The linear theory provides the onset criteria for both stationary and oscillatory convection while the non-linear theory gives information about the possibility of the finite amplitude motions and quantification of heat and mass transport
