Abstract
The new networking paradigms like Flying Adhoc Network (FANET) and Vehicular
newlineAdhoc Network (VANET) have emerged in the last two decades as an evolution of Mo-
newlinebile Adhoc Network (MANET). At the moment, there is a growing trend to establish
newline communication in the sky via the FANET of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Due
newlineto its risk-free piloting capabilities, FANET is becoming ever more popular. Compared
newlineto a single UAV, FANETs are probably more reliable at completing operational respon-
newlinesibilities.
newlineAdditionally, due to their great mobility, FANETs do not have a fixed topology and
newlinerapidly modify their topological structure. UAVs used in real-time applications have
newlinea variety of characteristics, including streaming and on-board video processing. The
newlineUAVs onboard systems use a protocol with a high bandwidth, high degree of mobil-
newlineity, high degree of link stability, and high energy consumption. Coordination amongst
newlineUAVs in the FANET is more difficult because of its rapid mobility and unstable topo-
newlinelogical structure. Additionally, the modern techniques for node coordination employed
newlinein the traditional adhoc network cannot be used in the FANET.In response to the afore-
newlinementioned challenges, we present a new distributed node coordination algorithm de-
newlinesigned specifically for FANETs. The primary concept behind this algorithm involves
newlinethe application of General Potential Field-based node coordination (GPFnc). A sim-
newlineulated environment is created and the proposed algorithm is experimentally validated.From the experimental results it is clear that the proposed GPFnc achieves better scala-bility, reliability and fast network formation than the existing state of the art algorithms of MANET. We also analyzed the performance of FANET using static and dynamic
newlineenvironments and evaluated the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed GPFnc.
