Genetic and chemo botanical studies of Rauwolfia serpentina Benth Sarpgandha of different agro climatic zone of India

Abstract

newline Rauwolfia serpentina (L.) Benth. ex. Kurz., is indigenous to India and other tropical countries of Asia and is pantropic in distribution. This is a task of find out the taxonomical, botanical, biochemical and genetic variation studies in plants of different agro climatic region of India. Plants specimens of sarpgandha were reported genetically similar by their morphological characteristics. Their botanical aspects also reported the similarity in root transverse section, longitudinal section; seeds powder microscopy. There were slight distinct changes found in their leaves and root characteristics. Same phytochemicals were reported in all collected specimens. There was a functional diversity study performed on the basis of root and leaf functionality by following the Shannon Entropy, Evenness, correlation, alpha diversity and beta diversity. This study suggested no evidence of diversity reported. There was a negotiable functional diversity reported in all collected specimens of sarpagandha. newline newline
