Abstract
The Switched Reluctance Motor SRM drive is receiving increasing attention from academicians as well as in industry as a viable candidate for adjustable speed drive applications Combining the unique features of an SRM with simple and efficient power converter that it uses a superior motor drive system emerges which may be preferable for many applications compared to other ac or dc motor drive systems The attractions of SRM drives will be significantly improved if the machine is designed with digital controllers FPGA DSP with fault diagnosis and management system This research is primarily devoted to design and develop a FPGA DSP based digital controller for a 6 4 pole SRM drive to implement different control algorithms to improve overall performance of the drive First step in this research is to develop a mathematical model of the SRM drive which has been arrived and presented
