Abstract
Film is a major media of information in the virtual age. Films can be claimed as the
newlinemost advanced art form in the technological era. The impact of technological progress
newlineis witnessed in every field and literature is not an exception. Films depict many issues
newlineand portray reality through imagination and innovation. They mirror the happenings
newlineof the society in a persuasive way with visual effects. Often, cultures of a community,
newlinereligious practices, faith, belief, etc. are portrayed through films. Like in literature, films
newlineaddress social problems and expose the true issues faced in this world. In the world of
newlinepostmodernism finding truth is an illusion because there is nothing but perception of
newlinepeople which changes from one to another. Postmodern films have the ability to foresee
newlineand predict the future and one example for this is the concept of virtual milieu in the
newlinereal world which is depicted in films. Hyperreality is fundamentally a visual language
newlinefor films to work with the portrayal to give a feel of hyperreal experience for the
newlineaudience. When a person is exposed to the visuals and auditory inputs, he/she is taken
newlineto a hyperreal scenario. The present study inquires whether the globe manifested by
newlinevisual channels and media are real or reel. From the commonly used social media to the
newlineadvanced level of software, everything is leading mankind to the world of hyperreality
newlinewhich is redefining the concept of existing culture. The objective of this research is to
newlinehighlight the elements of hyperreality in the chosen films and to bring out the impact and
newlineinfluences of such films in society leading to an illusion. This study tries to bring out the
newlinetechniques used in select science fiction films The Truman Show, Her and The Matrix
newlinewhich bring the audience to undergo the feel of hyperreal. This exploration brings out
newlinethe hyperreality of the contemporary era through the select films The Truman Show,
newlineHer and The Matrix which portray the present day circumstances of the contemporary
newlineand future earth.
