Demystifying the Manifestation of Existential Mysticism in Poetry A Study of William Blake and Rabindranath Tagore s Poetry

Abstract

In a quest to understand the consciousness and a meaning of their presence within the interwoven energies of the world, humans have tried to decipher the mystical essences present within the lives that they lead. The poets who have been established mystics, have endeavoured to define the elevated states of being and an illumined spiritual juncture within their poetic oeuvre. William Blake and Rabindranath Tagore are mystic poets who manifest this mystical essence within their succinct poetic expressions which are essentially within the paradigms of human existence within this world. This study aims to understand how, while being mystical, their poetic expressions try to define the unity of consciousness and an amalgam of human existence within the all-pervasive and immanent divine consciousness that surrounds them. The study examines how the mystical poetry of these poetic stalwarts can be considered as a projection of their existence while reverberating the realities of their lives within the world. newline
