Abstract

Over the decades, Multilevel inverters (MLIs) have gained significant interest due to their newlineattractive features, including high power quality, low total harmonic distortion (THD), improved newlineelectromagnetic compatibility, reduced Switching Stress, reduced filter size, and lower switching newlinelosses. MLIs are power electronic converters that generate high-quality, staircase-like output newlinevoltage waveforms from multiple DC voltage levels. MLIs play a vital role in energy conversion newlinesystem, such as electric vehicles, photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind farms, HVDC systems, newlineindustrial motor drives and fuel cells, due to their wide range of power applications. MLIs are newlineparticularly suited for medium-voltage, high-power and high-voltage, high-power applications, as newlinethey offer easy scalability by easily adjusting the number of power modules. The design of new newlineMLIs is shaped by several key factors, including the quantity of capacitors or DC supplies, output newlinevoltage quality, THD, number of power switches, and modularity. newline
