Abstract
newlineThe present investigation entitled Characterization of Parent s for Floral, Corm Traits and study of Hybrids for Seed and Cormlets production with Molecular Characterization in Gladiolus (Gladiolus hybrida L.) was carried out at Horticulture farm, Department of Horticulture, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, MPUAT, Udaipur during two consecutive years 2019-20 and 2021-22. The experiment-1 was conducted in RBD with three replication and experiment II also conducted in RBD with three replication. Among twenty two cultivars, cv. Anglia was earliest spike emergence (79.68 days), first floret show colour (87.90 days) and last floret show colour (97.55 days). The maximum number of floret per spike (20.50), spike per plant (2.99), spike length (108.70 cm), rachis length (74.17 cm), spike durability in field (19.30 days), vase life in plain water (13.40 days), corm per plant (3.00), cormlets per plant (42.16), fresh weight of cormlets per plant (10.55 g) were obtained from cv. GS-
newline2. The highest fresh weight of corm per plant (64.10 g) was obtained from cv. Friendship.
newlineAmong different crosses, the highest number of capsule set per spike and maximum number of seed set per spike were obtained in cross H11 -and#9792; GS-2 × and#9794; Arka Amar (5.42 per spike) and (298.10), highest weight of capsule per spike was in H13 - and#9792; GS-2 × Punjab Beauty (70.22g), maximum number of seed per capsule, seed weight per capsule highest seed weight per spike, maximum number of cormlets and highest cormels formation produced per cross in cross H25 -and#9792; Pusa Gunjan × and#9794; Arka Pratham (55.00), (2.10 g), (10.6 g), (400, 630 and 748 during 2020,21 and 22 ) and (524.0). The highest big size cormels diameter were observed in crosses H11 - and#9792; GS-2
