Trade Union Movement in Punjab 1920 47

Abstract

The present study understands the role of trade union movement in the region of Punjab from 1920- 1947. Although a vast range of literature on the working class is available it is unfortunate that industrial working class, which is the backbone of the economy of every state, is unseen in the historical literature of Punjab region. The labor class played a significant role in the Freedom Movement and other movements also. Trade Union Movement of Punjab organized the labor force and educated them to fight against exploiters and capitalists to get their rights. The study will shed light on the rise and growth of industrial labor and trade unions in British Punjab. This study also seeks to understand the struggle and contribution of the trade union movement in the Punjab. newline
