Abstract

The present study aims to examine age-related changes in body composition and the prevalence of osteoporosis among urban Dogra females of Jammu City. A cross-sectional sample of 767 urban Dogra Females residing in Jammu city having aged between 30 to 70 years was recruited in the study. Data were collected randomly from various households and institutions like schools, colleges, and temples and also by organizing camps with the help of doctors and ward corporators of Jammu city. The purpose of the study was also explained to subjects and the heads of institutions and their consent was taken before collecting data. Menopausal symptoms were observed in all premenopausal, perimenopausal and post-menopausal urban Dogra females. Perimenopausal females showed a higher prevalence of hot flushes and night sweats followed by sleep problems and weight changes whereas in post-menopausal females, the higher prevalence was of sleep problems followed by weight changes, hot flushes and night sweats, joint and muscular discomfort, heart discomfort, anxiety. newline
