Abstract

The demand of sustainable and green electric power sources has increased considerably to avoid newlineenvironmental pollution and to congregate the future power demand. Out of various alternatives, newlinesolar energy is one of the potential energy sources. Integration of solar PV system in grid has newlinelogged an exponential rise and is being considered as significant part of electric power system. newlineThe high penetration of Solar PV system in grid requires innovative planning and management in newlineorder to sustain and to improve the consistency and quality of power. The power electronics newlineconverters play a vital role in synchronization of PV plant to the existing grid. In the present newlinescenario, pulse width modulated voltage source inverter is widely used to accomplish the task. newlineThe penetration of power electronic converters for integration of PV plant to grid may create a newlinehazard to system in terms of power quality problems such as harmonics. This in turn causes newlinereduction in efficiency of the utilization, transmission and generation of electric energy. Thus, newlinethese harmonics cause a serious threat to the power quality. Harmonics have many kinds of newlineadverse effects in a power network. Hence such systems should fulfill the stringent grid codes newlineand regulations. The harmonics injected by the power electronic inverters can be minimized by newlinechoosing a proper PWM based inverter control strategy along with suitable control algorithm.
