Abstract
Violence could be defined as inhuman, mercilessly adopted act to exercise or
newlinethrash unlawfully towards people, property and / or personal belongings, causing or
newlineintending to damage or injure. The proposed research aims to examine violence as
newlineviolation of personality and the psychological impact of violence causing increase in
newlinethe intensity of suffering. But the variety of violence they undergo take root to
newlineculminate in many forms. They happen to perform their activities with a sense to
newlinepreserve their identity, culture, relationships and economic stand. Most often these
newlineattributes shape them or rather distort their image depending on the intensity of pain.
newlineIt is in this process of examination that the researcher will also analyze socio,
newlinepolitical, economic, and psychological issues related to both men and women that are
newlineseemingly the cause of violence. Violence does not mean something that culminates
newlinewith disastrous effects causing damage to living and property alone. It is also an act of
newlineharm causing people with severe loss both physically and psychologically. While
newlinemaking an attempt that takes a great deal of interest to study and to prevent the notion
newlineof violence many research studies have been evolved profusely over the past several
newlinedecades. Hence, the researcher would take an in depth study to examine the factors
newlinerelated to violence, women and trauma in the selected novels of Tahmima Anam and
newlineMonica Ali. All the novels that are chosen for research are based on the sufferings
newlineexperienced by women and the degree of sufferings one undergoes in the form of
newlinetrauma that implies great strength in the inner formation of self towards identity
newlinebuilding. Thus this research will analyze the impact of violence on the society when
newlineconfronted by both men and women.
