newlineInformation on the composition of the algal fora,
newlineseasonal changes and vertical zonation of the common algae
newlinealong with some relevant information on the changes in the
newlineintertidal environment, observed on the Visakhapatnam coast
newlinein the period from Mey 1960 to Apri 1963 is presented in
newlinethis thesis.
newlineExcluding diatoms and some crustose and lithophytic
newlinealgal forms, a total number of 85 algae were collected.
newlineAmong the 66 algae identified, 9 genera (vith 20 species)
newlinebelonged to Chlorophyceae, ll genera (vith 16 species) to
newlinePhaeophyceae and 22 gener~ (vith 30 species) to Rhodophyceae.
newlineFifteen of the unidentified forms belonged to Rhodophyceae
