Cloning and expression profiles of vasotocin receptor genes in the catfish Heteropneustes fossilis

Abstract

The thesis entitled, Cloning and expression profiles of vasotocin receptor genes in the catfish Heteropneustes fossilis embodies the research findings on cloning and characterization of vasotocin (VT) receptor subtype genes in the catfish H. fossilis; tissue, sex and seasonal variations; in situ localization of the gene transcripts in the brain-pituitary-gonadal (BPG) axis and gill, kidney and air-sac; regulation of VT receptor gene expression by steroids and gonadotropin; and functional expression profile of the receptor genes in response to ovaprim, salinity changes, and water and air deprivation treatments. The data are described in 7 chapters and are summarized below
