Abstract
newline Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS)
newlineis a stationary tool that is used to operate the power transmission system.
newlineFACTS is a power electronic-based system and other stationary
newlineinstrument that allows users to alter one or more AC transmission
newlinesystem parameters to improve controllability and power transfer
newlinecapabilities. The different kinds of FACTS tools accessible for this
newlinepurpose comprises Static Var Compensator (SVC), Thyristor controlled
newlineseries Capacitor (TCSC), Static Synchronous series compensator
newline(SSSC), Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM), Unified Power
newlineFlow Controller (UPFC) and Interlink Power Flow Controller (IPFC).
newlineUPFC is one of the FACTS tools among them that can manage the
newlinepower flow in transmission line by inserting active and reactive voltage
newlinecomponent in series with the broadcasting line.
newlineTo improve reactive power or dynamic stability, a hybrid
newlinestrategy based on optimal location and sizing of HPFC is presented.
newlineBecause the generator outage affects power flow restrictions such as
newlinepower loss, voltage, real and reactive power flow, the largest power loss
newlinebus is chosen as the most advantageous site for fixing the HPFC. The
newlineGA algorithm was used to find the best position. The required amount of
newlinethe UPFC to recover the starting operating condition is optimised based
