A Study of Learning Difficulties in Biology Subject of Secondary School Students in Gandhinagar District

Abstract

Education is a dynamic process which involves knowledge, generate interest and newlinecuriosity in the students. The objective of educational system is to create a healthy holistic newlinehuman progress. Education is important in everyone s life. Science plays an outstanding role in newlinehuman life. Biology is difficult to understand in many ways like phenomena are not visible to the newlinenaked eye, students need to memorize biological facts, no enough time to focus on biological newlineconcepts as subject is long, complicated includes too many details. Studying biology can also newlinelead to greater scientific literacy among students. It contains many difficult concepts to study. newlineThe current research seeks to identify the specific biological concepts that pose newlinechallenges for students, explore the underlying reasons for the struggles that higher secondary newlineschool students face in learning biology, and propose strategies to enhance the efficacy of newlinebiology education for students. There are numerous challenges encountered in the learning of newlinebiology as a subject in higher secondary schools. newlineThe objectives of the research entitled, quotA Study of Learning Difficulties in Biology newlineSubject of Higher Secondary School Students in Gandhinagar Districtquot, were to find out kinds newlineand factors of students difficulties in learning Biology subject. The subject of this study was the newlinestudents of class Xl and XII who took Biology as one of their main subject. newlineThis study employed a qualitative research design. In this survey study the researcher newlineused multistage random sampling technique for selecting the sample from the population which newlinewas done on the basis of gender (Boys and Girls), area(Urban and Rural), type of schools(Using newlineand without using Audio Visual), and type of boards(GSEB and CBSE) from Gandhinagar newlinedistrict. The sample consists of 1200 higher secondary school students who took Biology subject newlineas one of their main subject. newlineFor gaining the data, the researcher used self-made five point rating scale inventory.
