Abstract
Education is a dynamic process which involves knowledge, generate interest and
newlinecuriosity in the students. The objective of educational system is to create a healthy holistic
newlinehuman progress. Education is important in everyone s life. Science plays an outstanding role in
newlinehuman life. Biology is difficult to understand in many ways like phenomena are not visible to the
newlinenaked eye, students need to memorize biological facts, no enough time to focus on biological
newlineconcepts as subject is long, complicated includes too many details. Studying biology can also
newlinelead to greater scientific literacy among students. It contains many difficult concepts to study.
newlineThe current research seeks to identify the specific biological concepts that pose
newlinechallenges for students, explore the underlying reasons for the struggles that higher secondary
newlineschool students face in learning biology, and propose strategies to enhance the efficacy of
newlinebiology education for students. There are numerous challenges encountered in the learning of
newlinebiology as a subject in higher secondary schools.
newlineThe objectives of the research entitled, quotA Study of Learning Difficulties in Biology
newlineSubject of Higher Secondary School Students in Gandhinagar Districtquot, were to find out kinds
newlineand factors of students difficulties in learning Biology subject. The subject of this study was the
newlinestudents of class Xl and XII who took Biology as one of their main subject.
newlineThis study employed a qualitative research design. In this survey study the researcher
newlineused multistage random sampling technique for selecting the sample from the population which
newlinewas done on the basis of gender (Boys and Girls), area(Urban and Rural), type of schools(Using
newlineand without using Audio Visual), and type of boards(GSEB and CBSE) from Gandhinagar
newlinedistrict. The sample consists of 1200 higher secondary school students who took Biology subject
newlineas one of their main subject.
newlineFor gaining the data, the researcher used self-made five point rating scale inventory.
