Synthetic Spectroscopic and Structural Studies With Some Substituted Bis Anilides and Allied Compounds

Abstract

The thesis describes the results of synthetic, spectral and crystal structure newlinestudies ofa number of N-(heterosubstitutedphenyl)-succinamic acids, N-(aryl)-2/4- newlinenitrobenzene sulfonamides and N-(aryl)-2,2,2-trifluoroacetamides. The main objective newlineof the work is to explore the effect of substituents on the spectral and structural newlineparameters on the pattern ofhydrogen bonding in these compounds. newlineSpectroscopic technique is one of the most powerful tools available for the newlinestudy of atomic and molecular structures and is used in the investigation of a variety of newlinesamples. Infrared spectroscopy provides useful information about the structure of a newlinemolecule quickly and convincingly without tiresome evaluation methods. NMR studies newlineprovide evidences relating to the nature of the chemical bonding in molecules or newlinecrystals. The knowledge of structure of materials is essential for understanding of their newlinephysical and chemical properties. Thus the spectral and crystal structure studies have newlinebeen extensively used to investigate the structural aspects of a variety of compounds. newline
