dc.description.abstractnewlineThe results of centerline Mach decay plots at Mach 0.6 show the tabbed chevron with two tabs as effective in reducing the potential core length by 88.3% whereas, it was 67% for tabbed chevron with eight tabs, and for chevron nozzle it was 24% when compared to the baseline nozzle configuration. At Mach 0.8, it was 85.69% for tabbed chevron with two tabs, 61% for tabbed chevron with eight tabs, and 8% for chevron nozzles respectively. The potential core length reduction of tabbed chevron (two tabs) was 76.92%, tabbed chevron with eight tabs was 49.85% and chevron nozzle was 15% for Mach 1.0 jet. The maximum decay rate is given by tabbed chevron (2 tabs) when compared to the other three geometries, showing improvement in the jet mixing as a result of the combined effect of chevron with tabs (tabbed chevron) due to stream wise vortices generated by chevrons and transverse vortices shed by tabs which is transformed into axial vortices along the downstream directions.
