Comprehensive scheduling strategy for data acquisition in wireless Sensor networks

Abstract

In Wireless Sensor Networks WSN collection of data from the newlinesensor nodes without loss of data is a major challenge Initially nodes are newlinedeployed randomly which will relay data to the Base Station BS This leads newlineto the problem of energy drain to the nodes near the BS This is because the newlinenodes near the BS have to constantly relay data to the BS The data has to be newlineprocessed in the Base Station BS for further analysis leading to deteriorating newlineresults if data loss prevails Recent research works have proposed that mobile newlinenode or element can act as mechanical carriers to collect the data from these newlinenodes efficiently Data collection from the sensor nodes by the Mobile newlineElement ME without data loss is termed as the scheduling of the ME newlineFurther data forwarding is the most expensive function in terms of energy newlineconsumption The nodes near the BS drain out soon since these nodes are newlineforced to forward the data from all the nodes in the network to the BS The newlineME visits the sensor nodes and collects the sensed data before the buffers are newlinefull This thesis work has further explored this problem in order to schedule newlinethe ME such that the data loss is minimized traversal of the ME is newlineconstrained to a linear path thereby improving the network lifetime reducing newlinethe battery drain of the sensor nodes and enhancing the lifetime of the ME newline newline
