Abstract
The thesis work deals with a detailed investigation of carbon dots (CDs) based nanomaterials to carry out the detection and separation of endotoxin and proteins. A microwave irradiation method was used for the preparation of CDs. The prepared CDs were characterized by several experimental techniques. A detailed study of the optical properties in different environmental conditions including pH and ionic strength was carried out. The CDs were further functionalized with different moieties such as poly-l-lysine, peptide, etc. for the detection of bacterial endotoxin. Further, the CDs were incorporated into agarose hydrogel film for the removal of endotoxin from the aqueous medium. CDs were further embedded into the microgel system to carry out the detection of protein in the aqueous solution.
