Case Study of Information Needs and Information Seeking Behavior of Architecture Department Library Users with Reference to Jaipur District Rajasthan

Abstract

The study explores the information-seeking behaviour of library users of architecture institutions approved by CoA (Council of Architecture) in Jaipur district Rajasthan. At the present time a greater number of architecture institution are being established in Jaipur Rajasthan which attract thousands of students towards architecture field. At this juncture, it becomes important to enhance the quality of information resources and services provided by the library to these students and to ensure that they come out as a quality technical manpower, best academic achiever and distinguished innovator. This momentum gives way to conduct a study on the information needs and information seeking behaviour of students while they seek for information in the libraries of their department in which they study, so that relevant library resources and services needed can be identify and updated for further improvements in future, which result in better user services and get the ultimate satisfaction among the users. newlineArchitecture education is a multi-disciplinary art and technique with specializations of planning and designing of physical structures such as building or other products we use in our daily life ensuring durability, utility and beauty in addition to being eco-friendly. newlineArchitecture works are perceived as cultural symbols. Historical civilizations are often identified with their surviving architectural achievements. Architecture is a medium of cultural expression displayed using a specific set of principles.
