Abstract
The physical consequences of earthquakes are death and injury to
newlinehuman beings and damage to constructed and natural environment To reduce
newlinevibrations in structures many structural control systems has been designed and
newlineinstalled world wide Of all the methods the traditional method of
newlineimplementing control system is TMD The effectiveness of the TMD depends
newlineon how the dynamic properties are tuned to the properties of the structure
newlineThe dynamic properties include mass ratio
newlinedifferent time period respond to different earthquakes in different manner
newlineHence in the present work a methodology to optimize the dynamic parameters
newlineof TMD is arrived at
newlineThe objective function of optimization was to reduce the peak
newlineresponse of structures with time period varying from 01 to 3 sec in
newlineincrements of 001 subjected to seismic excitation
