| dc.description.abstract | Background: newlineParikartika (acute fissure in ano) is a painful anorectal condition often caused by constipation newlineand trauma, leading to discomfort and irritation in the anal region. In Ayurveda, it is treated newlineusing therapies that promote Vrana Shodhan (wound cleansing) and Varna Ropan (skin newlinehealing), such as Go-Ghrita and Triphala Ghrita. Go-Ghrita helps regenerate tissue and newlinereduce inflammation, while Triphala Ghrita offers synergistic healing properties. Although newlineboth are widely used, a comparative analysis of their efficacy in managing Parikartika has newlinebeen lacking. This study aims to evaluate and compare the clinical effectiveness of Plain Go- newlineGhrita and Triphala Ghrita in symptom relief and healing. newlineOBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness of local application newlineof Triphala Ghrita and Plain Go-Ghrita in the treatment of Parikartika (acute fissure in ano). newlineMaterial and Methods: newlineThis randomized controlled trial involved 200 participants diagnosed with Parikartika. newlineParticipants were randomly assigned into two groups: Group A received local application of newlinePlain Go-Ghrita, while Group B received Triphala Ghrita. Both treatments were applied newlinetwice daily for two weeks. The primary outcome was the comparison of effectiveness newlinebetween the two treatments in terms of symptom relief. Secondary outcomes included newlinepatient-reported quality of life, changes in bowel habits, and satisfaction levels. newlineDiscussion and Conclusion: newlineThis study concluded that Triphala Ghrita is more effective than Plain Go-Ghrita in the newline2 newlinemanagement of Parikartika (fissure in ano), offering superior pain relief and faster healing. newlineBoth treatments provided significant benefits, but Triphala Ghrita demonstrated better overall newlineoutcomes in terms of symptom relief and patient satisfaction. newlineTRIAL REGISTRATION: CTRI/2020/12/029781, dated 11 Dec. 2020 newlineFurther Research: newlineFurther research utilizing advanced modalities like Anal Manometry could provide a more newlineprecise assessment of sphincter spasm and its role in the management of Parikartika | |
