dc.description.abstractnewline Abstract: newlineBackground: Prediabetes is associated with the state of insulin resistance and is highrisk newlinestate for diabetes, leading to the release of pro-inflammatory and anti newlineinflammatory markers like adiponectin, TNF alpha, interleukins, and intercellular newlineadhesion molecule (ICAM).The roleof proinflammatory markers in diabeys mellitus newlineis eveident from amany studies. We extend our analysis to find the clinical newlinesignificance of TNF alpha and IL6 biomarkers for early risk prediction and newlinetherapeutic targets for prediabetes and related complications. newlineProcedure: All the prediabetes subjects underwent nerve conduction studies. The newlinestudy population was divided into two groups. One group was prediabetes with newlinesubclinical neuropathy and the other group was prediabetes with no neuropathy. newlineProinflammatory markers, TNF alpha and IL6 were studied in 108 prediabetes newlinesubjects with subclinical neuropathy and 88 subjects without neuropathy in rural newlinepopulation of central India. newlineConclusion: TNF alpha was significantly raised in subjects of prediabtes with newlineneuropathy as compared to without neuropathy.IL6 was found to have no newlineassociation.TNF alpha was also found to have strong association with the subjects newlinewith raised serum triglyceride levels.IL6 was strong associated with raised serum newlinecholesterol levels in the prediabetes subjects. newlineKeywords; Prediabetes, proinflammatory markers, tumour necrosis factor, interleukins
