Technical and Economical Analysis of an Off Grid Hybrid Power Generation System

Abstract

In an effort to reduce the rising levels of greenhouse gas, the Indian Government has taken newlinemany steps to reduce air pollution by adopting green energy. In this regard, it has taken many newlineinitiatives to promote the installation of hybrid energy generating system. The main aim of this newlinework was to assess both the technical and economic feasibility of an off-grid hybrid energy newlinegenerating system (HEGS). This work has been divided into five distinct scenarios and the newlineanalysis has been conducted using HOMER Pro software. newlineIn the first scenario, the technical and economic feasibility of an HEGS has been analyzed for newlineLadakh which receives good amount of solar radiation and consistent sunshine throughout the newlineyear. During the feasibility study, net present cost, cost of energy, and renewable fraction, have newlinebeen considered as the critical parameters and the optimal combination has been chosen as the newlinecombination of solar PV system, diesel generator, and wind turbine, along with a battery storage newlinesystem for storing excess electricity generated by HEGS. It has been observed that in newlinecomparison to the base case, the total net present cost of optimal combination was reduced by newline74%, the cost of energy reduced by 75%, and the emission of greenhouse gases was reduced by newline96% newline
