An Investigation on the Characterization and Adsorption Efficiency of Activated Carbon prepared from Agricultural Waste Products

Abstract

As a result of increase of industrialization (chemical, textile, pharmaceutical newlineetc.), wastes are frequently generated and discharged into the reservoirs or streams. newlineThis causes serious environmental pollution around our surroundings. To make the newlineenvironment clean several methods have been identified. One among these is the newlineuse of adsorbents such as silica gel, alumina, zeolite, activated carbon etc. newlineActivated carbon (AC) or charcoal is one of the useful carbonaceous adsorbent and newlineits preparation has gained interest in recent year in the field of science and newlinetechnology as it finds many applications, such as in purification, separation, newlinecatalytic, medicinal field etc. It is an ideal adsorbent due to the presence of wide newlineverities of pores or surface active centers, surface functional groups (C=O, C=C, newlineC-H etc.,) and surface charges. Commercial activated carbon is of high cost and is newlinemanufactured using tedious chemical methods newline
