Abstract
Poetic world of Arun Kolatkar is an authentic organ of
newlineMaharashtrian society and culture. It is a reflection of Maharashtrian
newlinesoul and psyche. It is the best piece of socio-cultural critique, where
newlineKolatkar casts light on the human sense and the sensibilities. His
newlineattitude of skepticism and even disbelief puts him a different poet from
newlinehis contemporaries. Apart from this, he reflects meaninglessness of life,
newlineloss of identity, revenge, motif and superstitious attitude. It also
newlineconfirms him as the greatest Indian poet of his generation, both in
newlineEnglish and Marathi. His poetry demonstrates indisputably Indian
newlineidentity. He has a magical gift for translating the familiar into the
