Freedom Struggles Of Afro Asian Countries Through The Prism Of Leadership With Special Focus On Nelson Mandela And Mahatma Gandhi

Abstract

This study attempts an analysis of freedom struggles in Afro-Asian nations newlinefrom the lens of leadership. For a detailed analysis of the theme the role of newlineGandhi in India and Mandela in South Africa is examined in depth. The newlinestudy attempts a wider analysis of the nature and trajectory of freedom newlinestruggles and focuses on the role of leadership. In India, the role played by newlineGandhi and the different perspectives and narratives of the movement and newlinehis leadership are discussed in the study. Freedom struggles form an newlineintrinsic part of the history of the colonized world and this is assessed in newlinedetail. Freedom Struggles produced leaders like Kwame Nkrumah of newlineGhana, Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia, Jomo Kenyatta of Kenya, Patrice newlineLumumba of Congo, Nnamdi Azikiwe of Nigeria, Robert Mugabe of newlineZimbabwe. Beyond these leaders who were mostly influenced and impacted newlineby Pan-Africanism and strong sense of African Nationalism, the Afro- Asian newlinecommunity gave to the word two outstanding crusaders of freedom, peace newlineand equality- Gandhi and Mandela. Leaders who impact are analyzed and newlinestudied. The study also attempts a comparative analysis of the role of the newlinetwo leaders and the context in which they led their movements.
