To investigate the effect of spray characterization with ceramic coatings on performance parameters and emissions levels in C I engines by using bio diesel blends as a fuel

Abstract

There are several types of fuels that are available in our environment but conventional fuels are depleting at a tremendous rate. It is however seen that we have limited amount of resources that are being used in the field of automobile. So it s time to focus on some natural resources such as bio fuel. A bio fuel is a solid, liquid or gas that is made from recently living material. It produces less CO2 when burnt. Ethanol, sugar corn, soya bean are some examples of bio fuels. Bio fuels can also be used in the field of Automobiles. Biodiesel is used in automobile sectors and is a specific type of bio fuel that can be used in diesel engines. newline newlineNow a day s KARANJA Bio diesel is used in diesel engines and is derived from KARANJA Oil. It is much more effective as conventional fuels are going to be extinct in present scenario. Biodiesel is prepared from the non-edible oil of Karanja by trans esterification of the crude oil with methanol in the presence of NaOH as catalyst. A maximum conversion of 92% (oil to ester) was achieved at 600°C. Important fuel properties of methyl esters of biodiesel produced from karanja oil like viscosity, flash point , fire point ,calorific value etc., was found out and compared to the properties of Indian standard biodiesel. Blending of karanja biodiesel with diesel is done and is used in the ratio of 1:5, 2:5. Many changes were observed during experiment. Piston with 87.5 mm bore was coated with a layer of ZIRCONIA (0.3mm) and its performance characteristics were analyzed.
