Abstract
Wheat is a most important food crop. Therefore, identification and characterization of potential genes and promoters are great interest. Overexpression of Ta7AMIOX in Arabidopsis increases plant growth. Ta7AMIOX accumulated highest in flowers. The ectopic expression of Ta7AMIOX in Arabidopsis, increased in drought stress. The phytic acid content in seeds was downregulated in Ta7AMIOX over-expression lines 6 and 12 as compared to wild type and mutant. The in-silico analysis revealed the presence of various abiotic stress responsive cis-elements in the Ta7AMIOX promoter. GUS activity of Ta7AMIOX::UidA was significantly up-regulated in abiotic stress treatments (cold, heat and drought). Ta7AMIOX promoter was induced under abiotic stresses (cold, heat, and drought) and could be used for conditional expression of transgene.
