Abstract

In the field of microwave technology, many transmission lines are being researched, and effort is still being done to create smaller, faster devices. Therefore, small device size and low power consumption are the main demands of technology in this decade. Only when attenuation in Thin Film Microstrip Lines is optimised will power consumption be reduced. On the other hand, without closed form expressions for calculations, this optimisation would not be achievable. Additionally, Thin Film Microstrip Lines (TFML) are the brains of numerous electronic devices for smaller devices. If we can anticipate this before fabrication, we can employ amplifiers wherever necessary for signal on TFML. Additionally, by understanding attenuation, we can consider strategies developed in microwave engineering to reduce these losses. Utilising thin films on a substrate, we will be able to construct components with a greater signal quality while utilising less space. To obtain precise closed form formulas for conductor loss and dielectric loss in TFML, modelling was done. These expressions are particularly beneficial to a designer since they provide an accurate prediction of signal attenuation before moving on to software design, which is a laborious and time-consuming process. newline
