Corporate Governance practices in Services sector

Abstract

The origin of Governance problem can be traced way back in 800 B.C when the entities such as sreni system (akin to a guild) in India, bearing many similarities to the modern day corporations, was structured to conduct business activities. The creation of first joint Stock company ie.,United East India Company in 1602 witnessed governance issue. It is the newlineopinion of other scholars and subject writers that governance issue will be persisting in any organisation as long as social institutions exists and the term Corporate Governanceand#8223; was coined two decades ago. Because of unsatisfactory performance of companies, dissatisfied newlineshareholders the genesis of Corporate Governance has become very vital for the discussion in developed and developing countries in the early1990s. Many developed and developing countries including India has increasingly globalised and transited progressively towards more market-oriented economies that made corporate governance has an newlineimportant policy issue.
