Abstract
The objective of this research work is to predict the optimum values of design variables and power coefficient of horizontal axis wind turbine The performance of a wind turbine rotor is based on aerodynamic design and airfoil geometry The wind velocity blade geometry angle of attack twist angle and tip speed ratio play an important role in the performance of wind turbine The correlations for the prediction of coefficient of lift and drag for various NACA airfoils have been developed and modified using available
newlineexperimental data The NACA airfoils are grouped into four different categories and the modified correlations have been validated The modified correlations were used for the optimization of power coefficient of wind turbine The effect of Reynolds number on lift to drag ratio was predicted for various NACA airfoils at various angles of attack The effect of angle of attack on the coefficient of lift for various NACA airfoils was analyzed and its maximum value is reported in the thesis
