The data from other Indian researches suggest that the adolescent students from rural and urban India have at least one smartphone or laptop to access the internet. Therefore, it becomes important to study the internet usage among the school going adolescents.

newlineThe sample of the study was selected using the purposive, multistage and convenient sampling techniques. The 400 adolescent internet users, who were thirteen to eighteen years old and studying in senior or junior secondary schools of four different blocks of Sonepat district of Haryana., were selected as the sample of the study. A structured questionnaire was used to collect the data from the school going adolescents. The questionnaire consisted different sections that seeks the information regarding demographic profile, internet usage, impact of internet on adolescents and the constraints. The coded data was analyzed using various statistical measures.

newlineThe findings of study showed that the senior secondary students were studying in different streams viz. arts, science and commerce and belonged to different type and size of family and place of living. Age wise, more than half of the respondents belonged to the adolescent age group i.e. 15-16 years old. However, the respondents were equally divided according to their gender and place of living. Further the findings revealed that a very high majority of the senior secondary students had a mobile phone and were using mobile phone and personal computers for accessing the internet.
