Abstract

This study investigated the relationships between the antecedents and consequences of tourist satisfaction in the context of package adventure tourism. While adventure tourism has gained prominence as a growing segment of the tourism industry, driven by the rising popularity of packaged adventure holidays, there remains a gap in understanding the factors that shape tourist satisfaction and its effects on future behaviours. This research addresses that gap by developing a comprehensive conceptual model, which includes the relationships between key antecedents (motivation, tour quality, and perceived value) and examining how these factors impact tourist satisfaction. The study further analyses the outcome of tourist satisfaction, such as behavioural intentions. Given the absence of a dedicated tool for assessing tourist motivation in package adventure tourism, this study also introduces a new instrument specifically designed to measure what motivates tourists to select a package adventure experience, to achieve the study s objectives. The research consists of two complementary studies. Study 1 focuses on the development and validation of the Package Adventure Tourism Motivation Scale, ensuring the tool s reliability, validity, and appropriateness for subsequent application. Study 2 then applies this scale to evaluate the comprehensive conceptual model and test the proposed hypotheses. Through these two studies, this research aims to provide a robust understanding of the factors driving tourist satisfaction in package adventure tourism and the potential impacts on future behaviour.
