| dc.description.abstract | Abstract: The purpose of this investigation is to study the educational newlineleadership of head teachers in secondary school in promoting academic newlineperformance. Descriptive survey method was followed. Stratified random newlinesampling technique was used. The sample size was 600 teachers (200 newlinefrom private unaided schools, 200 from private aided schools and 200 newlinefrom government schools) from Bangalore rural district of Karnataka. The newlineresearcher herself developed a tool to measure the academic newlineperformance of teachers, other two standardised tools were used for newlinemeasuring the leadership effectiveness and socio economic status of newlineteachers respectively. Statistical techniques used in analysing the data newlinewere t test, one way ANOVA and Scheffe s post hoc test and Pearson s newlineCoefficient of Correlation. The major results showed that there was newlinepositive and moderate correlation between school academic performance newlineand overall leadership effectiveness. Academic performance of school newlineteachers in relation to their age showed significant difference. Nature of newlinethe appointment did not show a significant difference in the academic newlineperformance of teachers. There was a significant difference in the newlineacademic performance of schools with different socio economic status of newlineteachers.
