Abstract

As Aristotle said man is a social animal. So, he must interact with his fellow beings. newlineTo succeed in his social life, he should have some essential knowledge. This knowledge newlinehe can gain through different sources, like books, films, newspapers, family, peer groups, newlineetc. This continuous accumulation of knowledge from different sources is called newlineEducation. Education is one of the major life processes of human beings. newlineEducation in India has seen tremendous growth over the past decade. However, the newlinevalue of education is determined by the ideals it teaches and the skills it provides. newlineEducation will only become a fundamental component of a sustainable society if it is newlinesuccessful in providing the required skills. Education without imparting Life Skills will be newlineconsidered just a ritual. Life Skills are very important in each stage of life; it is very newlinecrucial during adolescence. During this phase, adolescents exhibit substantial intellectual, newlinephysical, social, and emotional capacities. However, a significant portion of our young newlinepeople fail to fully harness their potential. It is a stage of stress and storm, a stage of newlineconfusion and imbalance. It is a major turning point in one s life. In this stage, they are newlineready to take any kind of risk. At this period they need proper guidance and orientation. newlineThis is the right time to inculcate Life Skills among them. Enhancement of psychological newlinecompetencies or Life Skills is a must for adolescents for a healthy transition of adulthood newline(Vranda and Chandrasekhar Rao 2011). Proper Life Skills help them to live their life newlineeasily and happily. Development of Life Skills bridges the gap between basic functioning newlineand capabilities. newline
