Efficacy of probiotic consortium mediated gut microbiota modulation in in vivo model

Abstract

The aim of the present study was to develop and formulate multi strain probiotic consortia and establish its efficacy in preventing/ameliorating high fat diet-induced obesity in an experimental mouse model. As per the available literature, there were rare studies which indicated the application of multi strain probiotic consortia on the amelioration or preventive attribute of high fat diet-induced obesity. Hence, in our study, this was the innovative part where we applied the multi strain probiotic consortium that had been developed in our own laboratory on a mouse model. Here, a high-fat diet was used to induce obesity, followed by treatment with multi strain probiotic consortia. This study established the effect of multi strain probiotic consortia on the preventive/ameliorative effect on the development or control of high fat diet induced obesity in a mouse model.
