Assessment of quality in the vicinity of industrial ares around bangalore city

Abstract

Air pollution has become a matter of grave concern, particularly in mega-cities and urban areas, where the situation is alarming and becoming newlinemore and more severe. Air pollution has become a growing problem in urban newlineareas throughout the globe, mainly due to industrialization and transportation as newlinethey major source of air pollution in many cities. Despite the improved newlineperformance of technology is presently insufficient to counteract the growth of newlineindustries, vehicles and associated pollution problems. Thus, it is necessary to evaluate the status of urban air pollution continuously and to assess its impact newlineon human health and plants, so that proper mitigative measures can be newlineimplemented. (Sirajuddin.et al).In this study an attempt has been made to newlineassess the impact due to industrial activity and road traffic on the air quality in urban areas during the period 2008-2011.Main objectives of the present study was generate an integrated and compressive data set with detailed measurement and modelling of various air quality parameters at selected industrial areas. An attempt has made to evaluate the effects of health on human in study areas by the measurement of concentration of air pollutants such as SPM, SOand#8322;, NOand#8322; and CO at selected areas. The effect of meteorological parameters like temperature, humidity on air newlinepollution concentrations was also studied. The statistical relationship between newlinemeteorological parameters and air pollutants were developed and a predictive newlinestatistical model was established. newlinePresent study has four main components. The main objective of this study newlineto determine the concentrations of the air pollutants and transport related air pollutants in the selected areas. The classified traffic flow studies were conducted during 6.00 am to 6.00 pm using manual technique at all study areas. The ambient air pollutant concentrations were continuously measured at newline
