Oxidative stress is a global threat to the health of all living organisms including human; it induces chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, etc. We have probably wasted too much time on various antioxidant agents such as vitamins, carotenoids and other synthetic compounds instead of focusing on more disease specific, target-directed and highly bioavailable antioxidant compounds. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new class of antioxidant drug to treat different oxidative stress associated diseases. However, the alternative therapy has to be potential, crucial and more specific; it should be a potential alternate to treat the chronic diseases induced by the reactive oxygen species (ROS). Among the numerous proposed strategies, the antioxidant peptides (AOPs) have been proved one of the promising alternative therapy with non-toxic nature due to its multiple structure and different possible modes of action. Therefore, in this study, we have established a methodology and derived AOPs from the established de novo spirulina, Arthrospira platensis (Ap) transcriptome database. This molecular approach search brought a library of spirulina AOPs. The sequences in the derived peptide library was evaluated with several in silico tools to identify its physico-chemical properties and to predict its possible free radical scavenging ability newline
